Many people and organizations honor Dr. Martin Luther King in many honorable ways, including a national day of service. However, for me, Dr. King is more than just a memory or a concept or a name to be honored. Dr. King, first and foremost, is a PERSON! I remember when he was alive and a young man, whose life was snuffed out when I was a little girl. I recall the terrible trauma on those who loved him, including his family. I recall my deep grief. I recall my deep fear. I remember his funteral. I lived the history and the events of 1968. He is now a spiritual and life ancestor!
And, yet, I still have hope!
